‘No matter how for you go as a donkey, you’ll never come back a horse’ — Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

This blog was inspired by Courtney, a nurse I met during recovery from my brain operations. My conversations with Courtney made it apparent Courtney was a deep thinker. Courtney is a 'ghost in a shell, a standalone complex' (an Individual). Without Courtney bringing up being a fan of the anime series, Ghost in a Shell; Stand Alone Complex, I wouldn’t have thought and written on this topic. That’s what happens when you bang Brains together in conversation not conflict.

Technological advances have benefited Humans immensely. The internet could be said to be a physical representation of Humanity’s knowledge, in history humans developed ‘tools’ to help humans allowing for the species to, not only survive, but to thrive. This has led to the development of the internet, social media and Artificial intelligence (AI). The benefits to quick communication and access to vast amount of knowledge are invaluable assets for humans to have.

Anthropomorphism and AI god/s; A chemical love affair. The social networks run in ‘trends’ or as the new term describes it ‘going viral’. These trends happen a lot faster and involve a lot more people than trends in the past, with social networks humanity is linked throughout the world. The way billions of people view a certain subject can change overnight, through the influence of mainstream and social media. If you missed it on the TV, likely it’s been posted somewhere else also. Many trends can involve irrational actions, is that because the reasoning is emotional based on a humans need to be validated?

Courtney mentioned that humans joining with technology would bring with it the aspect of ‘upgrades’ which would make it continually appealing to the human, I agree with Courtney. Part of the psychology of consumerism is to be unique, set apart from the rest of humanity but still a part of a group of people. This requires the consumer to have the newest models the latest ‘trinkets’. But how far will these upgrades get you with a meat brain?

Another reality: A blond haired, well-built man ran across a green field. The writing is in two dimensions, the image was in three dimensions in my mind, before I wrote it down. The reader reads it and turns the two-dimensional information into their own three-dimensional picture.

In my mind he may have had cloths on, but that information wasn’t provided. Hence one reader may picture the man running naked. Another reader may assume the man had clothes on, another reader may not be concerned that information was left out. They are more concerned on where the man is running to, or perhaps what the man is running from and/or why is he running with nothing chasing him?

The individual mind of the human is unique in how it interprets information and what it does with that information. The idea the human brain can perceive different dimensions suggest the conscious mind may be higher than the four-dimensional meat brain, placing the human mind theoretically for this blog in the ‘fifth dimension’ – only meaning the mind can move backward and forward in time. The human conscious mind may 'pick up' information outside human’s spacetime, in the fluctuating quantum field that is the universe. And this is perhaps where inspirational ideas are picked up.

This would mean the human brain/mind is unique as in even sleep it still functions keeping the vital organs going while the person dreams. Dreams could be said to be a conscious experience. Memories are created from life experiences while awake, the awareness of having that experienced is remembered, so this is considered a conscious experience.

A dream although not real in the sense of physical could still be considered a ‘conscious experience’ when remembered. Dreams also are where inspirational ideas come from, it seems the human brain/mind can access information from ‘somewhere, somehow’ that leads to inspirational ideas, this also in theory suggests the human’s conscious mind transcends time placing it in another dimension.

Through technical advances humans are now developing the AI, the more information the AI can get the ‘smarter’ it becomes, perhaps in the end being smarter than humans, The AI having the ability to hold, and sort information means it may find methods and patterns to create new medicines or clean energy sources. Does this place the AI above the human brain/mind? Hypothetically in the 'sixth dimension' meaning the AI can store all the information and move backward and forward in time over the information, (what humans do when they think). A six-dimensional mechanical brain certainly sounds like an upgrade at first glance.

That would place the human meat brain in the fourth dimension, the human conscious mind in the fifth dimension and the AI in the sixth dimension. However, taking a step back how did the AI develop the new medicines etc…? information that came from humans from the ideas they had come up while awake and sleeping. When an AI sleeps what does it dream of? …

Through the paradigm of scepticism all knowledge became a product of previous thoughts. All man had thunk, observed and recorded, that wasn’t confirmed by humanity’s new method of finding the ‘truth’ (the scientific method) became a construct of the human brain, that manifested ideas of god/s, devils, fairies, etc… and self. Modern neurologists suggest the way a person thinks is caused by nature and nurture. Conclusions from many suggest the Brain is determined to think a way, no matter what the owner of the Brain thinks.

Humans developed computers through research, trial, and error, which is leading to the development of what humans refer to as ‘Artificial Intelligence’. Assuming evolution is true, the human brain has become a very complex chunk of meat. Which seems to come up with ideas that help progress humans. The wheel for example, without a wheel you wouldn’t have a cog, no cogs, no machines - no computers.

When contemplating evolution: It seemed reasonable and logical that; a simple cell moving from heat or sun; or evolving a bit of itself so that it notices the sun, so it is active during day or night depending on the environment etc… could be consider a form of intelligence. So, evolution logically would be ‘design by a form of intelligence, hence intelligent ‘things’ that were just reacting to environmental stimulation’. This suggests the human Brain was developed by an unguided design, does that also make the human an AI? Or would that make the human brain more of an ‘AI’ then the AI humans are trying to developed through research trial and error?

An electronic AI is not a species, it is a tool created by humans and can be used to benefit humanity immensely. When human Brains come together and discuss issues new ideas come up, so it is the multiple individual minds that these ideas ‘pop’ into. This information could be analysed by the electronic AI to see what it comes up with.

What about a quick link for Brains to share thoughts? you know all hooked up through say…the internet, with AI helping, then any new Brains that come along we can just add for their biological distinctiveness, wait a second…that seems familiar; ‘Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile’. —The Borg-Star Trek 1989.

The problem with a hive mind is, who controls the hive mind? The ‘one’ Bee? How would privacy of thought be controlled? The network could also be hacked allowing ‘anyone’ to have access to people’s thoughts, whether it could be used to control the individual is unknown. However, evidence suggest the human mind can be ‘tricked’ by illusions, the human mind will struggle with the illusion until it understands it is not real. In the time that passes who knows what the person controlling the network has done, humanity may well end up like the Borg.

Is that a bright or a bleak future? No emotion and the inability to create new things, only to add new biological things distinctiveness to the web, in the ultimate form of subjugation to the Machine.

Provided is a link to an article about Neuralink® will humanity connect the links and not join with the tools, or are humans doomed to be the tools.
