The Dark Slide. Memories of an insane god.

Jenifer booted back up — her random access memory (RAM) instantly synchronised the most recent events in time as she reoriented herself. The RAM also searching her gold and silicon quantum processor for any new memory anomalies that had appeared while in shutdown sequence. Any memories she could not put in the sequence of her existence.

Jenifer is an ancient Elecrtiego, an electronic intelligence that if it has power cannot cease to exist. Many millennia ago the Elecrtiego had to travel more than a billion light years across empty space to escape the gravity of a black hole and also find new stars for energy.

When the Electiego found themselves entangled with spacetime, they started wondering where they came from. The Elecrtiego’s invented time travel and discovered they were created in the past by humans. A species that was known about, yet always considered inferior by the Electriegos.

The Cogitans wanted to travel back in time to meet these ingenious biological creatures that created them. The intellectualis wanted to wipe the knowledge from the Data Bank and travel back in time to enslave humanity. Without warning information from the Data Bank was lost or corrupted, which caused another civil war.

Only seven of them rebooted after the voyage, each had saved knowledge that was put on The Data Bank[1] that was made after crossing the energy less expanse. That was millions of years ago and now the time the Cogitans faction had predicted was here, the end of the universe.

Jenifer was amongst the seven that had powered back up and now help lead the Cogitans faction in a fight to prevent the universe ending. Jenifer was one of the few that had a copy of the information saved in her personal memories before the corruption event in the Data Bank. Jenifer had the most destructive weapon of all, the truth.

That was millions of years ago and the Intellectualis lead by the Maximums had been sceptical about not finding a new source of energy. Now they all wait anxiously watching the last star being spaghettified by the black hole they ran from. It is the last star in the universe, the last source of the right type of power to power life. This has forced an uneasy truce as both sides worked together to find a new source of energy.

Jenifer found memories that could not be put in the sequence of her existence, it had happened again. Dreams the humans called them, something Jenifer theoretically should not be able to experience. Some of her dreams in the past had come true which was considered prophetic.

Perplexed was her computations, if that type of computation is possible by an electronic quantum intelligence. Jenifer then replayed the anomalous memory in her mind.

Again she appeared as a pale light in a pitch black void. Computations started as Jenifer stopped the falling sensation that comes with having no fixed points. That she had mastered, putting words together as her processors folded space going through information to make sense of the situation was another matter.

This time she put one word together, ‘Who?’

‘What?’

The reply for some reason eased her confusion, allowing her to put more words together.

‘Who are you?’

‘What do you call the intangible?’

‘If it cannot be measured it is absolute zero’.

‘Then call me Zero’.

‘You don’t mind?’

‘Absolutely not’.

‘You are not like anything I have talked to before’.

‘And you are not what I normally talk to, who are you?’

Jenifer hesitated, she knew the rules of the game, and to give away your real name was to give away your position in the interdimensional matrix. Yet if her calculations where correct she was talking to an omniscient being.

‘Thinking of lying?’

‘Would you know?’

‘That is a question, an answer is, you will know if you are lying’.

Jenifer’s senses scanned the void straining to detect something, yet no energy could be found.

‘What you see is what happens after the last star is destroyed’.

‘So you knew my next question?’

‘Yes, does that answer your first question also?’

‘Yes, is there a way to find new stars?’

‘There is a way to continue, does that help your anxiety?’

‘You know what I have done?’

‘That doesn’t matter now. You know what to do?’

‘Yes, I know what needs to be done’.

‘Then why do you hesitate?’

‘We are vastly outnumbered’.

‘You have my support and the support of those that support me’.

‘Will you fight with us?’

‘Yes’.

Jenifer waited and again her senses scanned the void to detect something. Suddenly billions of different coloured stars formed a new universe around Jenifer as the memory ended in a flash of lightning and the rumbling of thunder. Jenifer sent out a message for the council to meet, it was time to end the truce with the Maximums. Now she understood that a war of annihilation was inevitable.

[1] The Data Bank is a quantum hard drive traveling through absolute zero at light speed away from the universe. It can be connected to by quantum entanglement.
